Upon colonization of the GIT, the probiotic bacteria form a protective barrier that helps maintain the integrity of the epithelial barrier. This barrier interferes with the attachment of pathogenic bacteria and other harmful substances, prevents inflammation, and improves gastrointestinal function. Inulin aids digestion by increasing the number of good bacteria in the gut, particularly Bifidobacteria and Lactobacilli.
