Kojic acid is a skin lightening product that inhibits the production of free tyrosinase, has no adverse mutagenic effect thus eliminates cellular toxicity, scavenges reactive oxygen species excessively released from cells or tissues or blood.
Besides freckles and melasma there are many types of pigmentation problems that may be treated with kojic acid, because it stops the production of pigment melanin.
