Definition
 
People with diabetes, if are unable to manage their sugar levels well, can get severe complications. Of these, damage to the eyes is one. It is also known as diabetic retinopathy. Diabetic retinopathy damages the tiny blood vessels inside the retina. The retina is the light-sensitive tissue at the back of your eye.
 
Signs and Symptoms
 
Symptoms can include:
1. Blurry or double vision
2. Rings, flashing lights, or blank spots
3. Dark or floating spots
4. Pain or pressure in one or both of your eyes
5. Trouble seeing things out of the corners of your eyes
 
Treatment and Prevention
 
Treatment often includes:
1. Laser treatment or surgery
2. People with diabetes, must get a complete eye exam every year. Finding and treating problems early may save the vision.
