Product introduction

Acenomac 2 Tablet should be taken as advised by the doctor. You may take it with or without food but it is better to take it at a fixed time. This medicine should not be stopped abruptly without consulting the doctor. You should take this medicine regularly to get the most benefit, even if you feel fine. It is preventing future harm.

Use of this medicine may increase your risk of bleeding. Let your doctor know immediately if you see a pinpoint rash or blood in your vomits, urine, or stool. If you are going under any surgery or dental treatment, you may need to stop this medicine for some time but only after consulting with your doctor.

Before taking it, you must inform the doctor if you are suffering from any kidney or liver disease. Also, let your doctor know if you are pregnant or breastfeeding and about all the other medications that you are taking regularly.

How Acenomac Tablet works

Acenomac 2 Tablet is an oral anticoagulant. It acts by preventing the formation of harmful blood clots. Although it does not dissolve the existing blood clots, it inhibits them from growing larger and causing serious problems.

  • Acenomac 2 Tablet increases your risk of bleeding. Be careful while shaving, cutting fingernails or toenails, using sharp objects or engaging in contact sports (e.g. football, wrestling).
  • Notify your doctor if you see blood in your vomit, urine or stool (black, tarry stools or bright red blood).
  • Do not consume alcohol while taking Acenomac 2 Tablet as this may increase its side effects.
  • If you are going to have a surgery or dental treatment, you may be asked to stop taking Acenomac 2 Tablet temporarily.
  • Do not discontinue use without consulting your doctor as this may increase your chances of having another heart attack or stroke.
  • You have been prescribed Acenomac 2 Tablet to help prevent blood clots.
  • For best results, take it at the same time every day.
  • Your doctor may get regular blood tests done to make sure Acenomac 2 Tablet is working properly.

Frequently asked questions

You should continue taking Acenomac 2 Tablet for as long as recommended by your doctor. Depending upon the condition you are being treated for, you may have to take it for several months or years or maybe for the rest of your life.
You should avoid alcohol while taking Acenomac 2 Tablet as alcohol may interfere with working of Acenomac 2 Tablet. In addition to that, avoid cranberry juice or other cranberry products as there may be a risk of enhanced blood thinning. Avoid breastfeeding or getting pregnant as it may harm your child.
Depending on the type of surgery that is to be performed, your doctor will tell you whether to continue or stop Acenomac 2 Tablet. It will be decided by your doctor after weighing the risks and benefits of discontinuing Acenomac 2 Tablet.
Both Acenomac 2 Tablet and warfarin are blood thinners, but they have some differences. Warfarin has a more stable blood thinning effect.
It takes a little longer for Acenomac 2 Tablet to start working. On an average, it may take 2-3 days for Acenomac 2 Tablet to show its blood-thinning effect. For these 2-3 days, heparin may be used and then discontinued.
If you forget to take a dose of Acenomac 2 Tablet, take it as soon as you remember. However, if it is time for your next dose then skip the missed dose. Do not double the dose and continue your normal schedule. Keep a diary or set a reminder, so that you do not forget it often.
The bleeding times should be carefully monitored from 2nd or 3rd dose of Acenomac 2 Tablet and till the clotting status is stabilized. Thereafter, the bleeding time can be monitored monthly. This frequency may be more in elderly.
