Your child’s medicine at a glance

To ensure maximum absorption, give Alclor Suspension an hour before or two hours after meals. In case your child develops a stomach upset, it is better to give it with meals. Give it as per the dose, time, and way prescribed by the doctor as these depend upon the type and severity of the infection. If your child vomits within 30 minutes of the intake, give the same dose again, but do not double dose if it is the time for the next dose.

Some temporary side effects of this medicine include vomiting, diarrhea, nausea, abdominal pain, and mild skin rash. If your child develops these side effects, they should go away on their own. In case these side effects don’t subside on their own or become bothersome for your child, report to the doctor without any delay.

Let the doctor know if your child has ever had any previous episodes of allergy, heart problem, blood disorder, birth defects, airway obstruction, lung anomaly, gastrointestinal problem, skin disorder, liver impairment, and kidney malfunction. Alclor Suspension is an antibiotic medicine given to children for the treatment of a wide range of bacterial infections like airways and lung infections (such as pneumonia), ear, nose, and throat infections, tonsillitis, and urinary tract infections. It inhibits the growth of infection-causing bacteria by stopping it from multiplying. This medicine starts showing benefits within 3 to 5 days of regular dosing. However, you must finish the full course of the medicine and never stop it abruptly by yourself as that may worsen your child’s condition or cause infection recurrence.

Side effects of Alclor Suspension in children

Alclor Suspension does not pose serious side effects and is well-tolerated by children. In case the side effects do occur, they’re likely to subside once the body adapts to the medicine. Consult your child’s doctor if these side effects persist or bother your child. The most common side effects include-

Can Alclor Suspension impact my child’s digestive system?

Yes, antibiotics are often accused of causing an upset stomach because while killing the bad bacteria they may unknowingly kill the good bacteria too. As a result, the working of the digestive system may get disrupted. This risk of developing stomach infections is higher in children because they often have a sensitive stomach. You can reduce this risk significantly by giving this medicine to your child with meals. In case your child is having diarrhea while on Alclor Suspension, do not stop the medicine course.
