Your child’s medicine at a glance
Give Aldezol DF Syrup to your child orally, with food, preferably at a fixed time. Giving it with food helps prevent the risk of developing a stomach upset. The usually prescribed frequency is three times a day, once each in the morning, afternoon, and at bedtime, keeping a gap of a minimum of 6 hours between two doses. Always give the dose as prescribed by the doctor since that depends on the severity and type of infection, body weight, and age of your child. If your child vomits within 30 minutes of intake, repeat the same dose but never double up the dose if it is time for the next dose.
Some children may develop minor and temporary side effects after taking this medicine. These include nausea, vomiting, flatulence, diarrhea, metallic taste, dizziness, headache, insomnia, loss of appetite, anorexia, abdominal cramps, red-brown urine, pruritus, and mild skin rash. These side effects usually go away once your child’s body adapts to the medicine. However, in case they persist for long or start bothering your child, you must consult your child’s doctor without any delay.
Your child’s doctor must be aware if your child has ever had any previous episode of allergy, heart problem, blood disorder, liver impairment, and kidney malfunction. This will guide the doctor in planning your child’s overall treatment.

Treatment of Parasitic infections
Aldezol DF Syrup is given to treat a wide range of parasitic infections such as diarrhea, amoebic dysentery, amoebic liver abscess, and giardiasis. It works by stopping the growth of parasites and also helps in clearing parasite cysts (carrier state).
It is most likely that your child’s infection will start showing improvement within 3 to 5 days of the regular dosing. Make sure to complete the full course of treatment even if your child feels better. Stopping the medicine abruptly by yourself may worsen your child’s condition or cause infection recurrence.

How Aldezol DF Syrup works
Aldezol DF Syrup is a combination of two medicines: Metronidazole and Diloxanide. Metronidazole is an antibiotic. It works inside the large intestine to kill the infection-causing amoeba (parasites). Together, they treat your infection effectively.
