Your child’s medicine at a glance

Give Ampoxin LB Capsule either with or without food but it is best to give it with food if it upsets your child’s stomach. It is generally given three times a day. Stick to the dose, time, and way prescribed by the doctor as these depend on the severity of the infection, its type, and your child’s body weight and age. If your child vomits within 30 minutes of taking the medicine, repeat the dose when your child feels better. However, do not double the dose if it is the time for the next dose.

Ampoxin LB Capsule can cause some minor and temporary side effects such as nausea, vomiting, headache, diarrhea, abdominal pain, and mild skin rash. These side effects should ideally subside on their own. But, in case these side effects persist or become bothersome for your child, report to the doctor without a delay.

Tell your child’s doctor if your child has had any previous episodes of allergy, heart problems, blood disorders, birth defects, airway obstruction, lung anomaly, gastrointestinal problem, skin disorder, and kidney malfunction. Knowledge of your child’s medical history will help the dose make dose alterations and plan your child’s overall treatment.

Uses of Ampoxin LB Capsule in children

Benefits of Ampoxin LB Capsule for your child

Bacterial infections
Ampoxin LB Capsule is a medicine that effectively treats a wide range of bacterial infections, especially the ones which are suspected to be caused due to resistant bacteria. These infections may include otitis media (ear infection), rhinosinusitis (sinus infection), tonsillitis (infection of tonsils), dental abscess (tooth infection), pneumonia (lung infection), cellulitis (skin infection), and urinary tract infections. The presence of probiotics reduces the chance of side effects like stomach upset or diarrhea associated with prolonged intake of antibiotics.

Usually, children start to feel better within 2-3 days of regular dosing. Make sure to finish the recommended course of the medicine as stopping the medicine abruptly may lead to ineffective treatment or may even worsen your child’s condition.

How can I give Ampoxin LB Capsule to my child?

Take this medicine in the dose and duration as advised by your doctor. Ampoxin LB Capsule may be taken with or without food, but it is better to take it at a fixed time.

How Ampoxin LB Capsule works

Ampoxin LB Capsule is a combination of three medicines: Ampicillin, Cloxacillin, and Lactobacillus. Ampicillin and Cloxacillin are antibiotics that work by preventing the formation of the bacterial protective covering that is essential for the survival of bacteria in the human body. Together, they eradicate your infection effectively. Lactobacillus is a live microorganism that restores the balance of good bacteria in the intestine that may get upset with antibiotic use or due to intestinal infections.

Quick tips

  • Complete the entire course of antibiotics without stopping the medicine in between. Sudden withdrawal may cause the bacteria to multiply again, become resistant, or cause another infection.
  • Conditions like the common cold and flu are caused by viruses. Never use this medicine for such conditions.
  • Give Ampoxin LB Capsule to your child only for their current infection. Avoid storing the medicine for future use as it is impossible to judge whether the same medicine would work for any future illnesses.
  • Stop this medicine and immediately report to your child’s doctor in case your child develops an itchy rash, facial swelling, or breathing difficulties while taking this medicine.
