Anti-Thyrox 20 Tablet belongs to a group of medicine called anti-thyroid agents. It is used in the treatment of hyperthyroidism. It reduces the amount of thyroid hormones produced by the thyroid gland.

No, you should not stop taking Anti-Thyrox 20 Tablet even if you start feeling better. You may have to take it for several months depending on your investigations. The duration of the treatment will continue till the thyroid hormone levels return to normal. This duration may vary from six months to 18 months. Your doctor will decide when the treatment should be stopped.
You may start feeling better within 1-3 weeks of starting Anti-Thyrox 20 Tablet. However, it usually takes 4-8 weeks to see the full benefits of the treatment.
Anti-Thyrox 20 Tablet may cause hair loss but not in everyone. It has been seen that on discontinuing Anti-Thyrox 20 Tablet or replacing Anti-Thyrox 20 Tablet with another medicine, there is improvement, and hair loss reverses.

Very rarely, Anti-Thyrox 20 Tablet interferes with the bone marrow and causes a drastic drop in white blood cells. These white blood cells are a part of the body's defense against bacterial infections, such as sore throats. So, a sore throat can sometimes be the first clue that Anti-Thyrox 20 Tablet is affecting the bone marrow. Your sister should contact her doctor and get a blood test. If a blood test shows her white blood cell count to be normal, then she can continue Anti-Thyrox 20 Tablet. If not, she should stop the treatment after consulting the doctor.
The effectiveness and side effects of Anti-Thyrox 20 Tablet in children are more or less the same as in adults. Anti-Thyrox 20 Tablet should not be used in children less than 2 years of age.
