Gout
Bencid Tablet is used to prevent and treat gout. Gout is caused by too much uric acid in your body. When the level becomes too high, crystals may form in and around certain joints and your kidneys. This can cause sudden and severe pain, redness, warmth, and swelling. This medicine works by preventing crystals from forming and reducing the levels of uric acid in your blood. This makes it less likely that you will suffer the symptoms and make them milder if you do have them. It is usually for long-term treatment and should be taken regularly until the dose is completed.

Most side effects do not require any medical attention and disappear as your body adjusts to the medicine. Consult your doctor if they persist or if you’re worried about them

How to use Bencid Tablet

Take this medicine in the dose and duration as advised by your doctor. Swallow it as a whole. Do not chew, crush or break it. Bencid Tablet is to be taken with food.

How Bencid Tablet works

Bencid Tablet is a urine alkalizer. It works by increasing the pH of urine which makes it less acidic. This helps the kidneys get rid of excess uric acid, thereby preventing gout and certain types of kidney stones.

Quick tips

Bencid Tablet is given to lower the level of uric acid and thus prevent gout.
Take adequate water or fluids while taking Bencid Tablet to prevent kidney stones.
Treatment with Bencid Tablet should not be started during a sudden/severe gout attack. Wait until your current attack is over before starting this medication.
You may experience an increase in the number of gout attacks for several months after starting this medicine while the body removes extra uric acid. Do not stop taking Bencid Tablet, continue along with your medications for gout pain prescribed by your doctor.
Consult your doctor before taking Bencid Tablet if you have or ever had kidney stones, stomach ulcers, peptic ulcers, diabetes, liver disorders, or blood disorders.
Tell your doctor if you are pregnant, plan to become pregnant, or are breastfeeding.
