C Met 400mg Tablet is an antacid. It reduces the amount of acid produced by your stomach. It is used to treat and prevent heartburn, indigestion and other symptoms caused by too much acid in the stomach. C Met 400mg Tablet is also commonly prescribed to prevent stomach ulcers and heartburn caused due to the use of painkillers. It must be swallowed whole with water preferably before meals to prevent the symptoms of acidity. The medicine must be taken in dose and duration as advised by the doctor. This medicine should relieve indigestion and heartburn within a few hours. If the symptoms persist or get worse even after 14 days of treatment, you should consult your doctor immediately. It is not recommended to take this medicine in severe stomach disease. You can help the medicine work better by eating smaller meals more often and avoiding spicy or oily foods.

Most people who take it do not have any side effects but the most common ones include headache, dizziness, diarrhea, muscle pain, skin rash, and tiredness. If you do get a side effect, it is usually mild and will go away when you stop taking this medicine or as you adjust to it. Consult your doctor if any of these side effects bother you or do not go away.

Before taking it, you should tell your doctor if you have any heart, kidney, or liver diseases so that your doctor can prescribe a suitable dose for you. Can I take C Met 400mg Tablet with loperamide?

C Met 400mg Tablet can decrease the metabolism of Loperamide, increase its blood levels. This can in turn increase the effects and side effects of Loperamide. So, consult your doctor prior to taking both the medicines together as your dose of Loperamide may need to be decreased.

Is there any vitamin and mineral loss when C Met 400mg Tablet is taken?

C Met 400mg Tablet is not known to cause vitamin and mineral loss or deficiency. However, C Met 400mg Tablet belongs to the class of H2 receptor blocker which can decrease vitamin B12 absorption and cause its deficiency as reported in some studies especially when used for more than two years.

Is C Met 400mg Tablet an antacid?

No, C Met 400mg Tablet is not an antacid as it does not neutralize the acids of the stomach rather it works by decreasing the production of the acid.

Are there any withdrawal symptoms associated with the use of C Met 400mg Tablet?

How is Omeprazole better than C Met 400mg Tablet?

Omeprazole is a proton pump inhibitor and C Met 400mg Tablet is an H2 receptor blocker. They act in different ways but both decrease the acid production in the stomach. However, according to some studies, omeprazole is more potent, longer acting, and has fewer side effects when compared to C Met 400mg Tablet.

Why should C Met 400mg Tablet be taken at bedtime?

C Met 400mg Tablet can be given as a single daily dose or as multiple daily doses depending on your condition. When given in a single dose, it is preferred that you should take it before going to bed as it is very effective in decreasing nighttime acid secretion and a fixed time will help you to remember to take the medicine.

Does C Met 400mg Tablet work for molluscum contagiosum?

Oral C Met 400mg Tablet has been seen to be effective in treating molluscum in children. However, this is not an approved indication for its use. Please consult your doctor before taking it for this condition.

C Met 400mg Tablet increases the action of an opioid like substances by inhibiting enzymes which are responsible for the breakdown of opiates. Due to a decrease in the breakdown, opioid levels increase in the body and hence their action is also increased.
