Your child’s medicine at a glance
Give Deworm Tablet to your child by mouth. You may give it with or without food, but giving it with food is preferred as it helps prevent stomach upset. Always ensure to give it as per the dose and way prescribed by the doctor. When given for worm infections, Deworm Tablet is usually given as a single dose. But, the doctor may prescribe repeating this dose after two weeks to prevent re-infection.
Some specific types of infections may require you to give this medicine to your child for a few days to weeks. In such cases, give this medicine for the exact prescribed number of days because stopping this medicine too soon may cause re-infection. In case your child vomits within 30 minutes of taking Deworm Tablet, give the same dose again.
Nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, abdominal pain, and rise of temperature (fever) are some of the common yet temporary side effects of this medicine. Rarely, Deworm Tablet may cause blood cell abnormalities as a serious side effect. Let your doctor know if these side effects persist or become bothersome or if your child experiences bleeding.
Before giving this medicine to your child, let the doctor know if your child has or had any previous episodes of medicine allergy, seizures, liver impairment, kidney malfunction, stomach problem, or blood disorder. This information is critical for dose alterations and for planning your child’s overall treatment.

How Deworm Tablet works
Deworm Tablet is an effective antiparasitic and an immunoregulatory agent. As an antiparasite, it works by paralyzing the worms present in the intestines. This causes the worms to die, followed by the fast removal of these dead worms through stools. As an immunoregulator, it promotes activation of white blood cells (WBCs) and helps in restoring the normal function of the immune system.

Quick tips
- Follow the prescribed dosage strictly. In case your child is prescribed to take this medicine for a few days, make sure to complete the dosage as stopping abrupting may lead to re-infection.
- Worm infections can easily spread between family members. The doctor may recommend treatment for all family members, whether or not the symptoms of infection are visible to avoid any further complication.
- Your doctor may monitor your blood counts as the use of Deworm Tablet may affect cell multiplication and cause a reduction in the total blood cell count.
- Some self-care measures:
- Do not give raw or undercooked food to your child. Instead give a balanced diet, containing herbs, fruits, and spices of therapeutic value.
- Encourage your child to wash their hands with soap and water every time they use the toilet as that will help prevent the spread of infection to other members.
- Trim your child’s nails frequently to disable any source of worm infection.
- Maintain a neat space and hygiene around your child.
- Inform the doctor in case your child exhibits signs of an allergic reaction such as rash, itching, or any other signs of infection such as fever, blood in urine and vomit, bleeding from gums, or black, red, or tarry stools.
- Call your child’s doctor right away if your child exhibits any signs of a liver problem like dark urine, tiredness, upset stomach, light-colored stools, or yellow skin or eyes.

Frequently asked questions
In case of worm infestations, your child may complain of an itchy bottom (rectal area), difficulty sitting, fatigue, restless sleep due to anal itching, or persistent stomach pain with loss of appetite or frequent indigestion. Another sign of worm infection is Pica (a habit of eating inedible substances such as mud). Speak to your child’s doctor as soon as you notice any such signs in your child. The doctor may ask for your child’s stool and blood samples for examination. Depending upon the reports, the doctor will decide upon the treatment and prescribe your child some medicine.
Children typically develop infections very easily due to weak immunity. The infection can be transmitted from the eggs of worms present in human feces which contaminate soil in areas with poor sanitation. These worms and their eggs can get transmitted by drinking contaminated water or by eating contaminated vegetables and fruits without washing or peeling properly. Your child may also get infected by playing in the soil that is contaminated with the eggs of the worms. So, keep a note of these points and take proper care of their hygiene. Ask your child to properly clean hands and legs after returning from outdoor activities.
Prolong or excess intake of Deworm Tablet can cause serious side effects such as seizures and low blood count. Therefore, it is advised not to give Deworm Tablet if your child is already suffering from a seizure disorder. Also, your child’s doctor may monitor the complete blood cell (CBC) in your child at regular intervals.
You can give your child medicines meant to relieve pain and fever unless your doctor has told you not to. However, some medicines should be avoided while being on medication with Deworm Tablet. So, to avoid any risk of side effects, talk to your child’s doctor before giving any other medicines to your child.
Deworm Tablet can be given at any time of the day. Just remember to give it in the dose and way as prescribed by your child’s doctor.
