How Epicort MK Ointment works
Epicort MK Ointment is a combination of five medicines: Betamethasone, Lacto bacillus Rhamnosus, Salicylic Acid, Sodium Lactate and Urea which treat eczema and psoriasis. Betamethasone is a steroid which blocks the production of certain chemical messengers (prostaglandins) that make the skin red, swollen and itchy. The other medicines are keratolytic medicines which break down keratin clumps, remove dead skin cells and soften the skin. They also enhance the absorption of Betamethasone into the skin.

Quick tips
- Epicort MK Ointment is used to treat the redness, swelling, itching, and discomfort associated with psoriasis and eczema.
- It is advisable to apply it once a day. For best effect, leave it on during the day if you have applied it in the morning, or overnight if you have used it in the evening.
- Apply to the affected areas as a thin film two or three times daily, or as advised by your doctor.
- Don't cover the area being treated with airtight dressings such as bandages unless directed by a doctor, as this may increase the risk of side effects.
- If you are using a moisturizer along with this preparation, apply the moisturizer first. Then wait 10-15 minutes before applying Epicort MK Ointment.
- Do not apply the medicine to your face unless your doctor has asked you to. If you have been told to use it on your face, be careful not to get any preparation near your eyes, and do not use it for longer periods of time than you have been advised.
- Your skin may become more sensitive to sunlight than normal while you are using Epicort MK Ointment. Try to avoid sitting out in the sun and do not use sunbeds.
- Consult your doctor if your skin condition has not improved after 2 weeks of treatment.
