Product introduction

Eslify 800 Tablet may be taken with or without food, preferably at the same time, each day. Take this medicine in the dose and duration as advised by your doctor. If you have missed a dose, take it as soon as you remember it. Do not skip any doses and finish the full course of treatment even if you feel better. Do not stop taking it abruptly without discussing it with your doctor, as it may increase seizure frequency.

Some of the common side effects of this medicine include blurred or double vision, headache, nausea, vomiting, fatigue, rash, and diarrhea. It may also cause dizziness and sleepiness, do not drive or do anything that requires mental focus until you know how this medicine affects you.  Please consult your doctor if these side effects bother you or do not go away.

Your doctor may advice for regular monitoring of sodium levels, as it may reduce the sodium levels in your blood (hyponatremia). Inform your doctor if you are taking oral contraceptive pills as this medicine reduces their levels in the body.

Eslify 800 Tablet is an anticonvulsant (or anti-epileptic) medicine that works by decreasing the nerve impulses which cause the seizures. By controlling the frequency of seizures, it will help you go about your daily activities with more confidence. It helps reduce symptoms such as confusion, uncontrollable jerking movements, loss of awareness, and fear or anxiety.
This medicine is not associated with any physical or psychological dependence (addiction) but it should not be stopped suddenly. It must be taken regularly as prescribed to be effective. Missing doses may trigger a seizure.

Most side effects do not require any medical attention and disappear as your body adjusts to the medicine. Consult your doctor if they persist or if you’re worried about them

How Eslify Tablet works

Eslify 800 Tablet is an anti epileptic medication. It works by blocking the voltage gated sodium channels that stabilizes the hyperexcited nerve cells in the brain. In this way, it treats seizures or fits.

Quick tips

  • Take your medication regularly as directed by your doctor as missing doses can trigger seizures.
  • Do not change the brand of your medicine and make sure that you have sufficient amount of medicine present with you.
  • Some healthy tips to prevent seizures:
    • Practice yoga every day.
    • Get enough sleep at nighttime.
    • Limit the use of screen time such as mobile/laptop.
    • Take your medication on time.
  • It may cause dizziness and sleepiness. Do not drive or do anything that requires mental focus until you know how it affects you.
  • Inform your doctor if you develop any unusual changes in mood or behavior, new or worsening depression, or suicidal thoughts or behavior.
  • It may cause a reduction in blood sodium level (hyponatremia). Your doctor may monitor your blood sodium level regularly.
  • Inform your doctor if you notice skin reaction such as rash, skin peeling, and itching while using this medicine.
  • Do not stop taking the medication suddenly without talking to your doctor as it may increase the seizure frequency.

No, stopping Eslify 800 Tablet suddenly can increase your risk of having more seizures. Your doctor will advise you on how long you should take this medicine. If your doctor decides to stop Eslify 800 Tablet, your dose will usually be reduced gradually. It is important that you complete your treatment as advised by your doctor or your symptoms may get worse.
Like all other anti-epileptic medicines, Eslify 800 Tablet may also cause suicidal thoughts. However, this occurs only in a small number of people.
Inform your doctor if you are suffering from liver disease as few people have shown a negative effect on the liver with the use of Eslify 800 Tablet. Your doctor may monitor your liver functions regularly.
Pay attention to any changes, especially sudden changes in mood, behaviour, thoughts or feelings. Keep all follow-up visits with your doctor as scheduled. Call your doctor as needed, especially if you are worried about any symptoms.
Eslify 800 Tablet may cause allergic reactions or serious problems that may impact organs and other parts of your body like the liver or blood cells. Consult your doctor straight away if you develop rashes, hives, itchiness, swelling, trouble swallowing or difficulty in breathing.
Your doctor will guide you about activities that are okay for you.
If your blood sodium levels become low during the course of Eslify 800 Tablet, you may experience worsening of seizures, confusion and decreased consciousness. Immediately consult your doctor if you develop any of these symptoms.
The dose of Eslify 800 Tablet may need to be adjusted if you take Carbamazepine with Eslify 800 Tablet. The reason being, Carbamazepine interferes with its working.
