Fixoil Liniment

Fixoil Liniment is only for external use. Use it in the dose and duration as prescribed by your doctor. Follow the instructions carefully to get the most benefit. You can also read the package insert for instruction. The dose and duration will depend on what you are using it for and how well it helps your symptoms. Apply it whenever it is needed or as per the doctor’s instruction.

It is generally safe with little or no side effects. However, in some people, it may cause application site reactions such as redness and swelling. These are usually mild and resolve with time. If they do not go away or bother you, you should contact your doctor.

The medicines that are used externally usually do not get affected by other medicines, however, you should let your doctor know if you are taking any medicines to ensure safety. Ask your doctor for advice if you are pregnant or breastfeeding. If you are a known allergic to the medicine, you must refrain from using this medicine and consult your doctor.

Fixoil Liniment is a combination of five medicines. Diclofenac is a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAID). It works by blocking the release of certain chemical messengers that cause pain and inflammation (redness and swelling). Capsaicin desensitizes the nerve endings which alleviates the pain, whereas rubefacients increase the blood flow of the affected area to give a warm and soothing feeling. Mephenesin is a muscle relaxant. It works on the centers in the brain and spinal cord to relieve muscle stiffness or spasm without reduction in strength. This improves the pain and movement of muscles. Camphor belongs to the class of medicines called rubefacients/antitussives. When applied to the skin, it increases blood flow and local temperature of the affected area which suppresses and temporarily relieves pain sensations. Menthol is an organic compound, extracted from peppermint oil. It activates the cold sensing chemical messenger, which gives a cooling effect.
