How Heximar-B Ointment works
Heximar-B Ointment is a combination of two medicines: Betamethasone and Calcipotriol which treat psoriasis. Betamethasone is a steroid which blocks the production of certain chemical messengers (prostaglandins) that make the skin red, swollen and itchy. Calcipotriol is a form of vitamin D. It works by reducing the overproduction of skin cells that may build up and form scales on the skin.
Quick tips
- Heximar-B Ointment is used to treat the redness, swelling, itching, and discomfort associated with psoriasis.
- It is advisable to apply Heximar-B Ointment once a day. For best effect, leave it on during the day if you have applied it in the morning, or overnight if you have used it in the evening.
- Apply to the affected areas as a thin film two or three times daily, or as advised by your doctor.
- Don't cover the area being treated with airtight dressings such as bandages unless directed by a doctor, as this may increase the risk of side effects.
- If you are using a moisturizer along with this preparation, apply the moisturizer first. Then wait 10-15 minutes before applying this medicine.
- Do not use Heximar-B Ointment on your face unless your doctor has asked you to. If you have been told to use it on your face, be careful not to get any preparation near your eyes, and do not use it for longer periods of time than you have been advised.
- Your skin may become more sensitive to sunlight than normal while you are using this medicine. Try to avoid sitting out in the sun and do not use sunbeds.
- Consult your doctor if your skin condition has not improved after 2 weeks of treatment.
