Product introduction

You can take Levosal Syrup with or without food. The dose will depend on your condition and how you respond to the medicine. Try to take it at the same time each day. It is important to keep taking this medicine until your doctor tells you not to. Use this medicine regularly to get the most benefit from it even if you feel well.

Levosal Syrup is generally safe and effective but some common side effects include tremor, headache, palpitation, increased heart rate, and muscle cramps. These side effects are not often dangerous and they should gradually improve as your body gets used to this medicine. There are other, rarer, side effects and you should call your doctor straight away if you get chest pain, a very bad headache, or very bad dizziness.

Before using Levosal Syrupl, you should tell your doctor if you have high blood pressure, an overactive thyroid gland, a history of heart problems, diabetes, or low levels of potassium in your blood to make sure it’s safe. Also, make sure your doctor knows if you are pregnant or breastfeeding before taking this medicine. Because this medicine can make you feel dizzy or shaky, do not drive, cycle, or use tools or machinery until you feel better. You should not smoke as it causes damage to your lungs and will make your condition worse.

It usually starts to work within a few minutes and the effects can last up to several hours. Do not stop using it unless you are advised to by your doctor.

Levosal Syrup works by widening the air passages in your lungs so that air can flow into your lungs more freely. For people with asthma, Levosal Syrup helps to relieve symptoms such as coughing, wheezing and shortness of breath, particularly at night.
Levosal Syrup should be taken in the dose and duration advised by your doctor. Levosal Syrup can be taken with or without food, preferably at the same time each day to reduce the chances of a missed dose. However, it is advisable to take Levosal Syrup just before bedtime with a glass of water.
If you forget a dose of Levosal Syrup, take it as soon as you remember. However, if it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and take the next scheduled dose on the prescribed time. Do not double the dose to make up for the missed one as this may increase the chances of developing side effects.
Taking a higher than the recommended dose of Levosal Syrup may cause seizures, chest pain, nervousness, headache, dry mouth, nausea, dizziness and lack of energy. High doses of Levosal Syrup may also cause fast, irregular or pounding heartbeat, uncontrollable shaking of any part of the body and difficulty falling asleep or staying asleep. In any such case, seek immediate medical attention.
Both Levosal Syrup and Albuterol belong to the same class of medicines. and are used for quick relief in symptoms of asthma and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) such as wheezing, shortness of breath and coughing. Levosal Syrup contains the active form of Albuterol known as R-albuterol. On the other hand, Albuterol contains a mixture of equal amounts of R-albuterol (active form) and S-albuterol (inactive form of Albuterol).
