Lupiclox Tablet DT works best on an empty stomach, so try to give it to your child 30 minutes to 1 hour before they eat. However, give it with food if it upsets your child’s stomach. It is generally given three times a day. Stick to the dose, time, and way prescribed by the doctor as these depend on the severity of the infection, its type, and your child’s body weight and age. If your child vomits within 30 minutes of taking the medicine, repeat the dose when your child feels better. However, do not double the dose if it is the time for the next dose.

Lupiclox Tablet DT can cause some minor and temporary side effects such as nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, abdominal pain, and mild skin rash. These side effects almost always go away on their own. But, in case these side effects persist or become bothersome for your child, report to the doctor without a delay.

Tell your child’s doctor if your child has had any previous episode of allergy, heart problem, blood disorder, birth defects, airway obstruction, lung anomaly, gastrointestinal problem, skin disorder, and kidney malfunction. These antibiotics work by preventing the formation of the bacterial protective covering which is essential for the survival of bacteria. Together, they treat your infection effectively. This medicine usually makes you feel better within a few days, but you should continue taking it as prescribed even when you feel better to make sure that all bacteria are killed and do not become resistant.

How Lupiclox Tablet DT works

Lupiclox Tablet DT contains two active ingredients: Ampicillin and Dicloxacillin. Ampicillin works by preventing the formation of the bacterial protective covering (cell wall) which is essential for the survival of the bacteria. Dicloxacillin increases the efficiency of this medicine and helps in treating the infections caused by resistant bacteria. Together, these two medicines not only kill the infection-causing bacteria but also arrest the spread of the infection.

Quick tips

Complete the entire course of antibiotics without stopping the medicine in-between. Sudden withdrawal may cause the bacteria to multiply again, become resistant, or cause another infection.
Make sure your child drinks plenty of water if diarrhea occurs as a side effect.
Conditions like common cold and flu are caused by viruses. Never use this medicine for such conditions.
Give Lupiclox Tablet DT to your child only for their current infection. Avoid storing the medicine for future use as it is impossible to judge whether the same medicine would work for any future illnesses.
Stop this medicine and immediately report to your child’s doctor in case your child develops an itchy rash, facial swelling, or breathing difficulties while taking this medicine.

It is advised not to give Lupiclox Tablet DT to children if they have jaundice. The reason being, Lupiclox Tablet DT contains an active ingredient called cloxacillin which can aggravate the symptoms of jaundice in your child.

Is Lupiclox Tablet DT safe for children suffering from infectious mononucleosis?

No, it is not advised to give Lupiclox Tablet DT if your child is suffering from infectious mononucleosis or even leukemia as Lupiclox Tablet DT can lead to the development of skin rashes.

Can I give Lupiclox Tablet DT to my child repeatedly for a long time?

Giving your child Lupiclox Tablet DT for a long term can cause fungal infection (oral thrush) in the mouth and severe gastrointestinal infections (superinfections). Can other medicines be given at the same time as Lupiclox Tablet DT?

Lupiclox Tablet DT can sometimes interact with other medicines or substances. Tell your doctor about any other medicines your child is taking before starting Lupiclox Tablet DT. Also, check with your child’s doctor before giving any medicine to your child.

Can I get my child vaccinated while on treatment with Lupiclox Tablet DT?

Antibiotics usually do not interfere with the ingredients in vaccines or cause a bad reaction in a child who has just been vaccinated. However, children taking antibiotics should not get vaccinated until they recover from the illness. As soon as your child feels better, the vaccine can be given.
