How Mmr Injection works

Mmr Vaccine is a combination of three vaccines, which prevents measles, mumps, and rubella. It helps develop immunity by initiating a mild infection. This type of infection does not cause illness but stimulates the body's immune system to produce antibodies (proteins) to protect against any future infections.

Quick tips

  • Mmr Vaccine helps prevent measles, mumps & rubella.
  • It is given by injection under the skin or into a muscle by your doctor.
  • It can also be given to older children, adolescents and adults who were either not vaccinated in childhood, or didn't have two doses of the vaccine.
  • Inform your doctor if you or your child has an infection with a high temperature, as vaccination may need to be delayed until recovery.
  • Do not take Mmr Vaccine if you are pregnant. Avoid getting pregnant for one month after having this vaccine.
  • It may cause fever. Inform your doctor if it does not go away or if the fever gets too high (more than 102 degree fahrenheit).
