Mmr Vaccine is to be administered by a healthcare professional. The first dose is generally given at 12 through 15 months of age. And the second dose is administered at 4 through 6 years of age. Do not skip any doses and follow your doctor’s instructions carefully to get maximum benefit.
It may cause redness, pain, and swelling at the site of injection. It may also cause loss of appetite, drowsiness, irritability, and fever in some people. However, these are temporary and usually resolves on its own. Consult your doctor if these do not subside or they bother you. Your doctor will suggest ways to cope up with the side effects.

Measles is a viral infection that starts in the respiratory system. It causes skin rashes that spread all over the body. Rubella is a viral infection that causes red rash on the body. It is transmitted by airborne droplets when infected people sneeze or cough. It occurs most often in children and young adults. Mumps is a viral disease that spreads from person to person through close contact. The most noticeable symptom is swelling in the face. This is due to swelling of the salivary gland located inside on both sides of the face. It also causes severe pain especially while eating or talking. - Mmr Vaccine helps prevent measles, mumps & rubella.
- It is given by injection under the skin or into a muscle by your doctor.
- It can also be given to older children, adolescents and adults who were either not vaccinated in childhood, or didn't have two doses of the vaccine.
- Inform your doctor if you or your child has an infection with a high temperature, as vaccination may need to be delayed until recovery.
- Do not take Mmr Vaccine if you are pregnant. Avoid getting pregnant for one month after having this vaccine.
- It may cause fever. Inform your doctor if it does not go away or if the fever gets too high (more than 102 degree fahrenheit).
- This vaccine may cause mild measles or mumps-type symptoms. However, it is not infectious.
