How Moxitik P Eye Drop works
Moxitik P Eye Drop is a combination of three medicines: Hydroxypropylmethylcellulose, Moxifloxacin, and Prednisolone. Hydroxypropylmethylcellulose is a lubricant. It works similar to natural tears and provides temporary relief from burning and discomfort in the eyes. Moxifloxacin is an antibiotic which prevents bacterial cells from dividing and repairing. This kills the bacteria that cause eye infection. Prednisolone is a steroid. It blocks the production of certain chemical messengers (prostaglandins) that cause inflammation and make the eyes red, swollen and itchy.
Quick tips
- You have been prescribed Moxitik P Eye Drop for the treatment of bacterial infections of the eye.
- Use it twice a day (in the morning and the evening). If your symptoms are particularly severe, your doctor may suggest you use them up to four times a day.
- To avoid contamination, do not touch the dropper tip or let it touch your eye or any other surface.
- Apply pressure on the corner of the eye (close to the nose) for about 1 minute, immediately after putting the medication. This will prevent the medication from draining out. Try not to blink or rub your eye.
- Do not wear contact lenses until your infection clears up.
- Eye infections can cause your eyes to become more sensitive to sunlight than usual. Wearing sunglasses may help to prevent this.
- Along with using Moxitik P Eye Drop, give a warm compress to your eyes to get relief from itching and burning sensation.
- Take care to avoid spreading the infection from one eye to the other, and to other members of your family. Washing your hands regularly (particularly after touching your eyes) and not sharing towels or pillows will help to prevent the infection from spreading.
- Make sure to use it within 4 weeks of opening the medication.
