Product introduction

Nucala Injection is given by a doctor or a nurse as an injection. You should not self-administer this medicine at home. The dose and duration of the treatment will depend on the severity of your condition. Get the injection regularly and as long as the doctor has prescribed.

The most common side effects of this medicine include headache, injection site reactions (pain, redness, swelling, itching, or a burning feeling at the injection site), back pain, and tiredness (fatigue). If any of these side effects bother you or get worse, consult with your doctor. They may be able to suggest ways to reduce or treat the side effects.

Do not use this medicine if you are allergic to mepolizumab or any of the ingredients in this medicine. Do not use this medicine if you are taking any oral or inhaled corticosteroid medicines. However, do not stop taking your other asthma medicines unless instructed by your doctor. You should also not use this medicine if you have a parasitic (helminth) infection. Consult your doctor before using this medicine if you are pregnant, planning to become pregnant, or breastfeeding.

It may take a few weeks for this medicine to show full effects. Quick tips

Do not use Nucala Injection to treat sudden breathing problems.

Inform your doctor if you have heart problems, high blood pressure, or diabetes.
If you are due to have an operation or any dental treatment, tell the person carrying out the treatment which medicines you are taking, as some anesthetics can interfere with Nucala Injection.
Do not discontinue use without consulting your doctor, even if you feel better.
Do not smoke. Smoking causes irritation and damage to the lungs and will make your condition worse.
Try to keep your regular appointments with your doctor. This is so your doctor can review your condition on a regular basis.
