How Nuspas Tablet works

Nuspas Tablet is a combination of two medicines: dicyclomine and nimesulide which relieve abdominal pain. Dicyclomine is an anticholinergic which works by relaxing the muscles in the stomach and gut (intestine). It stops sudden muscle contractions (spasms). By doing this, it relieves cramps, pain, bloating, and discomfort. Nimesulide is a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID) which works by blocking the release of certain chemical messengers that cause pain and inflammation (redness and swelling).

Quick tips

  • Nuspas Tablet is used to give relief from abdominal pain.
  • Nuspas Tablet should be taken with, or straight after, a meal or snack. This helps to reduce the risk of stomach upset.
  • Stick to simple meals and avoid spicy rich food in order to avoid feeling sick (nausea).
  • Drink plenty of water while taking Nuspas Tablet in case you experience diarrhea as its side-effect.
  • Dry mouth may occur as a side effect. Frequent mouth rinses, good oral hygiene, increased water intake and sugarless candy may help.
  • If you develop any new symptoms, or if your symptoms get worse, make an appointment to see your doctor for further advice.
