Product introduction

Omelam Tablet may be taken with or without food. However, it is advisable to take it at the same time each day as this helps to maintain a consistent level of medicine in the body. Take this medicine in the dose and duration advised by your doctor as it has habit-forming potential. If you miss a dose of this medicine, take it as soon as you remember. Finish the full course of the treatment even if you feel better. It is important that this medication is not stopped suddenly as it may cause nausea and anxiety.

Some common side effects of this medicine include confusion, drowsiness, tiredness, uncoordinated body movements, depression, memory impairment, headache, stomach pain, nausea, vomiting and flatulence. However, these are temporary and usually resolve on their own. Please consult your doctor if these do not subside or bother you.

It may also cause dizziness and sleepiness, so do not drive or do anything that requires mental focus until you know how this medicine affects you. It may cause diarrhea, so it is better to take plenty of fluids while taking this medicine as it may help to prevent dehydration. If you get watery diarrhea with fever or stomach pain that persists, then you should consult your doctor.

So, do not stop taking it without discussing with your doctor.
Insomnia
Omelam Tablet helps treat insomnia (difficulty falling or staying asleep) in people who have problems related to their sleeping habits. Insomnia may cause you to wake up earlier than usual and you may find it difficult to go back to sleep. Omelam Tablet works by slowing activity in the brain to allow sleep. This helps you relax and feel more energetic. It also helps you concentrate better and improves your quality of life.

How to use Omelam Tablet

How Omelam Tablet works

Omelam Tablet is a combination of two medicines: Alprazolam and Omeprazole. Alprazolam is a benzodiazepine. It works by increasing the action of a chemical messenger (GABA) which suppresses the abnormal and excessive activity of the nerve cells in the brain. Omeprazole is a proton-pump inhibitor which reduces the amount of acid in the stomach which helps relieve indigestion and heartburn.

Quick tips

  • Omelam Tablet is used for the treatment of anxiety and insomnia.
  • It can take a week or two after starting this treatment before the effect begins to build up, and 4-6 weeks before you feel the full benefit. Do not stop taking it after a week or two, feeling it is not helping.
  • Do not stop taking Omelam Tablet unless your doctor tells you to do so. Stopping treatment suddenly can cause problems and your doctor will probably want you to reduce your dose gradually when this becomes necessary.
  • Try to keep your regular appointments with your doctor. This is so your doctor can check on your progress.
  • Inform your doctor if you are pregnant or breastfeeding.
