Product introduction
Give Pavicef O Oral Solution to your child orally, preferably at a fixed time, either before or after meals. In case your child develops a stomach upset, prefer giving it with meals. The dose and duration depend upon the type and severity of the infection, your child’s age, and body weight, so stick to the dose, time, and way prescribed by the doctor. If your child vomits within 30 minutes of intake, repeat the same dose but do not double dose if it's time for the next dose.
Do not give this medicine to your child in case of cold and flu symptoms. Such symptoms are almost always a result of viral infections, and antibiotics are ineffective in killing viruses. Antibiotics are given in cough and flu symptoms only when the doctor detects any underlying secondary bacterial infection.
This medicine may have some minor and temporary side effects such as vomiting, diarrhea, nausea, abdominal pain, and allergy. These side effects will disappear once your child’s body adapts to the medicine. However, if they persist or become bothersome for your child, report to the doctor without any delay.
Share your child’s complete medical history with your child’s doctor. Make sure the doctor knows if your child has or had any previous episode of allergy, heart problem, a blood disorder, birth defects, airway obstruction, lung anomaly, gastrointestinal problem, skin disorder, liver impairment, and kidney malfunction. This information is critical for dose alterations and for planning your child’s overall treatment.

Treatment of Bacterial infections
Pavicef O Oral Solution is a combination of two different antibiotics that work together, in different ways, to treat various bacterial infections. Cefixime works by stopping the growth of bacteria and kills them. Ofloxacin prevents multiplication and repair of infection causing bacteria and prevents further spread of the infection.
This combination medicine can be used to treat many different bacterial infections such as ear, sinus, throat, lung, urinary tract, skin and soft tissues. It usually makes you feel better within a few days, but you should continue taking it as prescribed even when you feel better to make sure that all bacteria are killed and do not become resistant.

How Pavicef O Oral Solution works
Pavicef O Oral Solution contains two antibiotics. Cefixime works by preventing the formation of the bacterial protective covering (cell wall) while ofloxacin directly interacts with the genetic material of bacteria. As a consequence, the infection-causing bacteria stop growing further and the spread of the infection is successfully arrested.
Quick tips
- Your child must complete the entire course of antibiotics. Stopping too soon may cause the bacteria to multiply again, become resistant, or cause another infection.
- Give this medicine with food to avoid an upset stomach.
- Encourage your child to drink plenty of water in case diarrhea develops as a side effect.
- Do not give any calcium, magnesium, iron, vitamin, or antacid within 2 hours of taking Pavicef O Oral Solution as these can affect the absorption of the medicine.
- Conditions like common cold and flu are caused by viruses. Never use this medicine for such conditions.
- Only give Pavicef O Oral Solution to your child for their current infection. Never save medicine for future illnesses.
- Stop this medicine and immediately report to your child’s doctor in case your child develops an itchy rash, facial swelling, or breathing difficulties while taking this medicine.

An extra dose of Pavicef O Oral Solution is unlikely to do harm. However, you must still be vigilant because overdoses may cause unwanted side effects and may even worsen your child’s condition. If you think you have given too much of Pavicef O Oral Solution to your child, speak to a doctor immediately.

Pavicef O Oral Solution can sometimes interact with other medicines or substances. Tell your doctor about any other medicines your child is taking before starting Pavicef O Oral Solution. Also, check with your child’s doctor before giving any medicine to your child.
Antibiotics usually do not interfere with the ingredients in vaccines or cause a bad reaction in a child who has just been vaccinated. However, children taking antibiotics should not get vaccinated until they recover from the illness. As soon as your child feels better, the vaccine can be given.
Children often have a sensitive stomach and develop a stomach upset while taking antibiotics. When antibiotics are given, the medicine may kill off the good bacteria along with the bad ones, increasing the risk of developing other infections. In case your child is having diarrhea while on Pavicef O Oral Solution, do not stop the medicine course. Instead, call your child’s doctor to ask about the next steps. In some cases, the doctor may alter the dose.
Yes, the infection-causing bacteria can become resistant to Pavicef O Oral Solution because of irregular dosing, unrequired repeated use, and misuse of Pavicef O Oral Solution can lead to resistance. Resistant bacteria are no longer killed by the antibiotics and may lead to reinfection.
Inform the doctor if your child is suffering from heart disease, genetic disorders involving blood vessels, seizures, psychiatric disorders, diabetes, photoallergy (allergy from sunlight), neuromuscular disorders, or rheumatoid arthritis. This is because there is a possibility that Pavicef O Oral Solution may aggravate these conditions and result in complications.
