Product introduction
Rifagut Tablet can be used alone or in combination with other medicines. It may be taken with or without food, preferably at the same time, each day. It should be used in the dose and duration as advised by the doctor. Take it at the same time each day to get the most benefit and you should keep on taking this medicine for as long as you are prescribed. Stopping it early may make the infection to come back and harder to treat.
Some people may develop side effects like vomiting, headache, constipation, vomiting, fever, abdominal pain, and nausea. These side effects are usually temporary and go away during treatment as your body adjusts to the medicine. Consult your doctor if these side effects bother you or will not go away. Your urine may become reddish in color due to this medicine. But, it is normal and harmless.
Before starting treatment with this medicine, you should tell your doctor if you are pregnant, breastfeeding or suffering from any liver, kidney or heart problems or if you are allergic to any medicine.

Quick tips
- You have been prescribed Rifagut Tablet for the treatment of infectious diarrhea.
- It should only be taken for a maximum of three days. If your symptoms do not improve after three days, inform your doctor. Do not take a second course of Rifagut Tablet.
- It may cause reddish discoloration of urine. This is normal and harmless.
- Stop taking Rifagut Tablet and inform your doctor if your diarrhoea gets worse or starts to contain blood or mucus.
- Finish the full course of the medication, even if you feel better. Stopping the course early increases the risk of coming back of the infection.

Kidney
SAFE IF PRESCRIBED
Rifagut Tablet is probably safe to use in patients with kidney disease. Limited data available suggests that dose adjustment of Rifagut Tablet may not be needed in these patients. Please consult your doctor.

Liver
CAUTION
Rifagut Tablet should be used with caution in patients with severe liver disease. Dose adjustment of Rifagut Tablet may be needed. Please consult your doctor.

Frequently asked questions
The duration for which you may need to take Rifagut Tablet will depend upon the disease being treated. If it is prescribed for treatment of traveler's diarrhea, it is usually given for 3 days. When given for irritable bowel syndrome, it is usually given for 14 days.
Taking Rifagut Tablet can help improve the symptoms and delay the recurrence of the disease. However, it is not sure whether it will cure the disease completely or not. It has been shown that Rifagut Tablet can help improve the symptoms such as diarrhea, abdominal pain and discomfort. Consult your doctor for exact details on the treatment of IBS.
Rifagut Tablet usually starts acting within 24 to 48 hours. The symptoms like diarrhea improve gradually after you start taking this medication. Usually, taking Rifagut Tablet for 2 weeks relieves the symptoms of IBS. Moreover, it has also been seen that this 2-week course of Rifagut Tablet provides relief for up to 10 weeks even after stopping the medication.
