Tocid Suspension is taken with food in a dose and duration as advised by the doctor. The dose you are given will depend on your condition and how you respond to the medicine. You should keep taking this medicine for as long as your doctor recommends. If you stop treatment too early your symptoms may come back and your condition may worsen. Let your healthcare team know about all other medications you are taking as some may affect, or be affected by this medicine.

The most common side effects are diarrhea, constipation, and chalky taste. Most of these are temporary and usually resolve with time. Contact your doctor straight away if you are at all concerned about any of these side effects. To overcome constipation, you should add fibre-rich foods in your diet and stay hydrated.

Before you start taking this medicine it is important to inform your doctor if you are suffering from liver or kidney disease. You should also tell your doctor if you are pregnant, planning pregnancy or breastfeeding. Lifestyle modifications like having cold milk and avoiding hot tea, coffee, spicy food or chocolate can help you to get better results.

Tocid Suspension relieves excessive acidity in your stomach which prevents heartburn and indigestion. Usually, it is used along with other medicines for management of your condition. Continue taking it for as long as the doctor may advise you to. You need to take this medicine regularly to get the most out of it. Take a fiber-rich diet, avoid oily or spicy food and drink plenty of fluids while taking it to make sure you stay hydrated.

Indigestion
Indigestion means discomfort of mainly the upper part of your stomach which may also have other symptoms such as stomach pain, bloating, feeling full etc. Tocid Suspension improves the movement of food in your stomach and gut (intestine). This relieves these symptoms and helps in proper digestion of food. Take Tocid Suspension as prescribed by the doctor. Think about what foods trigger indigestion and try to avoid them; eat smaller, more frequent meals; try to lose weight if you are overweight and try to find ways to relax. Do not eat within 3-4 hours of going to bed.

How Tocid Suspension works

Tocid Suspension is a combination of two medicines: Magaldrate and Dimethicone. Magaldrate is an inorganic salt that neutralises the excess acid in stomach. Dimethicone is an antifoaming medicine which disintegrates gas bubbles and allows easy passage of gas.

Tocid Suspension helps relieve acidity and indigestion.
It should be used only for occasional relief from increased stomach acid. Do not take it for more than 2 weeks, unless otherwise prescribed by the doctor.
Inform your doctor if you show signs of appendicitis or inflamed bowel (such as lower abdominal pain, cramping, bloating, nausea, vomiting).
Avoid taking Tocid Suspension at least 2 hours before or after taking other medicines as it may interact with other medicines.
Incorporate the folowing lifestyle changes in order to prevent indigestion:
1. Make sure you eat regular meals and drink plenty of water.
2. Avoid spicy and fatty fried food.
3. Lose weight if you are obese.
4. If you are a smoker, consider giving up.
5. Don't drink too much alcohol.
6. Do not go to bed immediately after taking a meal. Sit in a relaxed position for some time for better digestion.
