Your child’s medicine at a glance

Give Valimox D Kid Capsule either with or without food but it is best to give it with food if it upsets your child’s stomach. It is generally given three times a day. Stick to the dose, time, and way prescribed by the doctor as these depend on the severity of the infection, its type, and your child’s body weight and age. If your child vomits within 30 minutes of taking the medicine, repeat the dose when your child feels better. However, do not double the dose if it is the time for the next dose.

Valimox D Kid Capsule can cause some minor and temporary side effects such as nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, abdominal pain, and mild skin rash. These side effects almost always go away on their own. But, in case these side effects persist or become bothersome for your child, report to the doctor without a delay.

Tell your child’s doctor if your child has had any previous episodes of allergy, heart problem, blood disorder, birth defects, airway obstruction, lung anomaly, gastrointestinal problem, skin disorder, and kidney malfunction. Knowledge of your child’s medical history will help the dose make dose alterations and plan your child’s overall treatment.

How can I give Valimox D Kid Capsule to my child?

Take this medicine in the dose and duration as advised by your doctor. Valimox D Kid Capsule is to be taken with food.

How Valimox D Kid Capsule works

Valimox D Kid Capsule contains two active ingredients: Amoxycillin and Dicloxacillin. Amoxycillin works by preventing the formation of the bacterial protective covering (cell wall) which is essential for the survival of the bacteria. Dicloxacillin increases the efficiency of this medicine and helps in treating the infections caused by resistant bacteria. Together, the medicines not only kill the infection-causing bacteria but also arrest the spread of the infection.

Quick tips

  • Complete the entire course of antibiotics without stopping the medicine in-between. Sudden withdrawal may cause the bacteria to multiply again, become resistant, or cause another infection.
  • Make sure your child drinks plenty of water if diarrhea occurs as a side effect.
  • Conditions like common cold and flu are caused by viruses. Never use this medicine for such conditions.
  • Give Valimox D Kid Capsule to your child only for their current infection. Avoid storing the medicine for future use as it is impossible to judge whether the same medicine would work for any future illnesses.
  • Stop this medicine and immediately report to your child’s doctor in case your child develops an itchy rash, facial swelling, or breathing difficulties while taking this medicine.
  • You have been prescribed this combination medicine to treat bacterial infections.
  • Finish the prescribed course, even if you start to feel better. Stopping it early may make the infection come back and harder to treat.
  • Diarrhea may occur as a side effect. Taking probiotics along with Valimox D Kid Capsule may help. Talk to your doctor if you notice bloody stools or develop abdominal cramps.
  • Take it with food and plenty of fluids to avoid an upset stomach.
  • Stop taking Valimox D Kid Capsule and inform your doctor immediately if you develop an itchy rash, swelling of the face, throat or tongue or breathing difficulties while taking it.
