Milrinone is used in the treatment of Heart failure.

How Milrinone works

Milrinone is a vasodilator. It increases the level of a chemical messenger (cAMP), which helps the smooth muscles to relax. Thus, dilates the blood vessels for better blood flow into the heart. It also has blood thinning property.

Common side effects of Milrinone

Atrial arrhythmias (altered heart rate), Hypotension (low blood pressure), Headache
