How Tinidazole + Povidone Iodine works

Tinidazole + Povidone Iodine is a combination of two medicines: Tinidazole and Povidone Iodine. Tinidazole is an antibiotic which kills bacteria and other infectious microorganisms by damaging the DNA. Povidone Iodine is an antiseptic applied on skin which is infected or is likely to get infected. It slowly releases iodine which kills or prevents the growth of infectious microorganisms.

Common side effects of Tinidazole + Povidone Iodine

Most side effects do not require any medical attention and disappear as your body adjusts to the medicine. Consult your doctor if they persist or if you’re worried about them

Expert advice for Tinidazole + Povidone Iodine

  • Clean the wound and then apply the cream to the affected area using a sterile gloved hand or a sterile spatula.
  • Apply it once or twice daily and re-apply to any areas from which it gets removed due to activity. Burn areas should be covered with the cream at all times.
  • It may cause minor burning, stinging or irritation when applied. Inform your doctor if this does not go away.
  • Avoid contact with your eyes, nose or mouth. Rinse it off with water if you accidentally get the cream in these areas.
