Anti ds-DNA Antibody-IFA

Anti-ds-DNA Antibody-IFA (Indirect immunofluorescence assay) test is a confirmatory testing method commonly used for detecting the signs and symptoms consistent with systemic lupus erythematosus (SLS). This test also aids in the diagnosis of Sjogren’s syndrome, rheumatoid arthritis, scleroderma, hepatitis, and other mixed connective tissue diseases.

The Anti-ds-DNA Antibody-IFA works based on Antigen-Antibody interactions. People with or at risk of SLS may have elevated levels of anti-ds-DNA. In such cases, an anti-ds-DNA test may help monitor the progression or flare-ups in the diseased person. An abnormal result may indicate ongoing inflammation, damage to the kidney, chronic hepatitis, primary biliary cirrhosis, or the presence of SLS.
