Azithromycin + Ambroxol is a combination of two medicines: Azithromycin + Ambroxol1 and Azithromycin + Ambroxol2 which treat respiratory tract infection associated with excessive mucus (phlegm). Azithromycin + Ambroxol1 is a macrolide antibiotic. It stops bacterial growth by inhibiting synthesis of essential proteins which are required by bacteria to carry out vital functions. Azithromycin + Ambroxol2 is a mucolytic which thins and loosens mucus (phlegm), making it easier to cough out. Addition of Azithromycin + Ambroxol2 enhances the antibacterial effect of Azithromycin + Ambroxol1.
