Derobin Ointment reduces the scaly, itchy patches which may develop on the different parts of the body. Use it exactly as prescribed and for as long as it is prescribed to get the most benefit. It may take several months to become fully effective. You should avoid drinking alcohol while having this treatment and drink plenty of water to stay hydrated.

How Derobin Ointment works

Derobin Ointment is a combination of three medicines: Salicylic Acid, Dithranol and Coal Tar, which treats psoriasis. Salicylic Acid and Coal Tar are keratolytic medicines. They work by breaking down keratin clumps which removes dead skin cells and softens the skin. Dithranol is a tar-like substance which works by slowing down the rapid growth of skin cells.

Quick tips

  • Derobin Ointment is used to treat the redness, swelling, itching, and discomfort associated with psoriasis.
  • It is advisable to apply it once a day. For best effect, leave it on during the day if you have applied it in the morning, or overnight if you have used it in the evening.
  • Apply to the affected areas as a thin film two or three times daily, or as advised by your doctor.
  • Don't cover the area being treated with airtight dressings such as bandages unless directed by a doctor, as this may increase the risk of side effects.
  • Use moisturizer regularly to overcome skin dryness during the course of treatment.
  • Do not use this medicine on open wounds and cuts.
  • Your skin may become more sensitive to sunlight than normal while you are using Derobin Ointment. Try to avoid sitting out in the sun and do not use sunbeds.
  • It may take several weeks to show its action. Keep using it as suggested by your doctor.
