Pursennidin Tablet contains senna. Senna is a natural medicine containing sennosides that are derived from the leaves of the senna plant. Sennosides irritate the lining of the bowel causing a laxative effect.Senna has been used in alternative medicine as a laxative and an aid to treat constipation.
Constipation is a condition in which there is difficulty in emptying the bowels, usually associated with hardened faeces. Constipation is a common cause of painful defecation . Severe constipation includes obstipation (failure to pass stools or gas) and fecal impaction , which can progress to bowel obstruction and become life-threatening.
Senna is an FDA-approved non-prescription laxative. Senna is also used for irritable bowel syndrome (IBS), hemorrhoids, and weight loss.
