It should be taken by mouth with or without food. This medicine is given for long time as takes few months to show its effects. Thus, it is important to take it as advised by doctor and complete the full course of treatment.

It is usually well tolerated. However, it may produce some mild sexual side effects such as low sexual drive. Remember you should not donate blood for 6 months after taking the last dose of this medicine.

Benign prostatic hyperplasia
When your prostate gland becomes enlarged it can cause urinary problems such as difficulty passing urine and the need to go to the toilet frequently or urgently. It can also cause urine flow to be slower. If not treated, there is a risk that your urine flow will be completely blocked. Dutas Capsule works by relaxing muscles in the bladder and prostate. So, it can rapidly relieve the symptoms and make it easier for you to urinate. It also helps to treat uncontrollable contractions (spasms) of the bladder muscles that causes frequent urination, urgent need to urinate, and inability to control passing of urine. It also relieves painful, or frequent urination and reduces urgency to urinate. Take this medicine exactly as prescribed for maximum benefits.

How Dutas Capsule works

Dutas Capsule is a 5-alpha reductase inhibitors. It blocks an enzyme which is necessary to change testosterone to another hormone that causes the prostate to grow. As a result, it helps to shrink the prostate and relieve the symptoms like difficulty in passing urine.

Kidney

Dutas Capsule should be used with caution in patients with liver disease. Dose adjustment of Dutas Capsule may be needed. Please consult your doctor.

I was having high psa > 8.00. It was Benign Prostate Hyperlasia. Repeated infection of prostate over many years. TURP of prostate done in Nov'2015. Prostate was 30 mg approx then. Still psa remained at 8.27 after TURP. No malignancy in biopsy. In Sept'2016 12 core biopsy of prostate done as psa remained high; biopsy reported no malignancy. On veltride-0.5 since Sept16 . Psa was 5,47 in between and now again it is 6.28. Doctor has given now dutas-0.5mg replacing veltride. He told that after 3 to 4 months if psa remains high beyond 7.00 then MP-MRI to be done. No other problem of infection or pain or swelling. Am I on the right track ? Why PSA remains so high high even 16 months after TURP ? I am not having any urge for sex. Doctor has given tadalagress20 mg ( alternate days) due to loss of libido, which I have not yet taken. Is it safe to take tadalgress alongwith dutas-0.5 mg ?

First of all PSA of 8 is not very high. U already underwent turp n prostate biopsy. No malignancy was detected. Now just relax. No need to take Dutas. Just do PSA every 6 months.
